Recruiting: Soft skills don’t matter enough
When recruting top managers, small and medium-sized enterprises do not sufficiently check the leadership and social skills. The selection criteria mainly focus on the professional qualifications and experience and only thereafter on the social skills. In addition interviews with top managers are often held more superficial than with other employees, frequently the candidates do not even have to pass a management audit.
The risk to recruit a top manager, who is inappropriate in hindsight and whose personal skills were not previously verified, is financially very high and can also damage the reputation of the company.
Qualified personnel consultants attach great importance to present several candidates to the client who were analysed very thoroughly and comprehensively, who are all highly motivated, competent and loyal and match to the team, the task and the company in the long run.
